キイコーヒーファクトリーはケニアの中央部、キリニャガに位置します。

1968年に設立され、ガタンジュリ村、キバエ村、キアンドゥマ村、キアンドゥンベ村を管轄しています。当ファクトリーはルンゲト生産者組合の傘下で、同組合の他ファクトリーの中で最も高い生産量を誇っています。


現在、同組合には1300名の農家が加盟しています。(実際に活動しているのは約1000名の農家)当ファクトリーは標高約1,619mに位置しており、この地域の土壌は赤土で大変肥沃です。年二回の雨季は1,400mmほどの降雨をもたらし、平均13-24°Cの理想的な気温を示しています。そのためここでは通常4月、10月の2度の収穫期があり、主にSL28、SL34、そしてRuiru11が栽培されています。(買付分は10月~収穫のメインクロップとなります)

環境保全への意識も高く、排水ピットを設置し、土の層の仕組みを利用して排水をろ過し、土に戻す取り組みを行ったり、加盟農家に対して植樹を促進したりしています。栽培に当たっては農家研修プログラムや農務省が実施する現地視察を通じて、ガイドラインに沿った除草、剪定、灌漑、施肥などの技術的なアドバイスを提供しています。

周辺地域は人口密度が高く、野生動物はほとんど見受けられませんが、環境は地域のコミュニティによって保護されています。また福祉面での取り組みの一環として、コーヒー農家のモチベーション維持のため農業資材の投資や、賃金の先払いなどのサービスも行っています。
