This coffee was purchased in Rwanda in June 2023.
The Nyarusiza washing station is located in the Nyamagabe district in southern Rwanda, west of the Nyungwe Forest National Park, with fertile volcanic soil and spring water from abundant sources.
Ripe cherries are harvested by hand, and the refining process begins that night. During the refining process, the cherries are sorted many times by weight and visually.
The washing station is located on a gentle slope, which allows the African beds to be evenly exposed to sunlight, resulting in a highly uniform refining process.
BUF Coffee's coffee is produced, sorted, refined, and cupped under strict quality control before being shipped.
At BUF COFFEE's first washing station, Nyarusiza, there is a kindergarten where the children of farmers engaged in coffee production can go free of charge.
Here, classes are taught in Rwandan (Kinyarwanda) and English.
The Kindergarten is a place where Mr. Samuel, the representative of the organization, wants to "provide the same educational opportunities to rural and urban areas" and "allow people involved in coffee production to concentrate on coffee making.
