This lot got 15th place in the Cup of Excellnce (COE), which is an international coffee competition held locally for Peruvian coffee. The lots were carefully selected from among the 29 lots that won prizes, and were sold at auction through an import-trading company.

Peru is one of the top 10 coffee-producing countries in the world, and its coffee industry is flourishing. On the other hand, it is also a latecomer in the development of specialty coffee, as the COE program, which has already been held for more than 20 years, was not held in Peru until 2017.This year's COE, now in its fifth year in Peru, featured many lots of excellent quality that overturned the image of Peruvian coffee until now. Most of the winning lots were of such high quality that there was nothing to complain about.

The winning bidder, La Palma Estate, is located in the buffer zone of the Tobaccona Nambal National Reserve in the Cerro El Tigre valley basin in the Cajamarca region of northwestern Peru, which borders Ecuador. In recent years, the majority of the top COE winning lot have been single variety of Geisha, which is now a well known variety. The quality of the Geisha variety is already recognized by the industry, and the farm also started to produce the variety in 2020.Just two years later, the estate won a prize for its mixed-variety lot of Geisha, Caturra and Bourbon, which are the indigenous varieties and has been growing for more than 20 years. We decided to bid this lot because we recognized the high level of quality-control-system of this farm by the quality not only of Geisha, but also of those indigenous varieties which the farm has been producing from the begininng.

The cupping score by the international judges was 88 points. The evaluation was "Crispy and sparkley, Clean, Layered and complex.Aromas and flavors detected in the coffee include "Key Lime Pie, Raspberry, lemon, pineapple, chocolate, stone fruits, flan, brown sugar, orange blossom, and molasses. We will only have a very small number of these coffees in stock, so please try them as soon as possible.
