Oscar Edgardo Tinoco started coffee production in 2006 on land he inherited from his parents. He continues to produce high quality coffee by harvesting only ripe coffee cherries and maintaining a controlled environment for the cherries after harvest.

Edgardo's commitment to quality was widely recognized when his coffee received the highest rating in the 2011 Honduran COE.

Several of his estates are divided into plots with different varieties. Pino de oro has about 7 hectares and produces particularly fine coffees, including the iconic Santa Barbara pacas, as well as SL, Pink Bourbon, and Geisha varieties, which are distributed in the mainstream Kenyan terroir.

In 2020, a major hurricane hit Honduras, causing distress to many Santa Barbara-based producers. Coffee production in the Santa Barbara area that year was 50% to 70% lower than in previous years, and Edgardo's farm suffered similar damage. A dry mill not far from his home collapsed, affecting the post-harvest drying process, and now a dry mill with stronger materials is being rebuilt on the site of a wet mill a short distance away.

The coffee is now being prepared for next season's harvest by harvesting all cherries regardless of their ripeness, thereby reducing labor costs and the stress on the coffee trees after harvest. Once the coffee is ready for trade, it will be managed by San Vicente, a local coffee exporter, who will support the trade.

[About the exporter San Vicente]

The exporter is based in Pena Blanca, a small town in the northwestern part of Honduras. Their main clients are the producers of Santa Barbara area and currently have businesses with over 200 farmers.

The owner Mr. Ángel and several other members welcome and support the coffee importers and roasters of overseas countries so that the visitors get to see local coffee producers and farms, cup coffee, and start business with them. Mr. Angel and Mr. Benjamin, who also own coffee plantations, have received rewards many times in international competitions such as Cup of Excellence.

They also support producers by being responsible for quality control; for example they measure water content and water activity value of green coffee, which is an indispensable process to maintain the quality. They ship green coffee of which moisture content value is managed between 10-11%, and water activity value between 0.40-0.60aw.
