Releasing new coffee by a producer, Olvin Valle from Santa Barbara province.

This is the first time for us to have his coffee. We have recognized his farm, Cruz Grande, as one of the local farms which have marked higher scores constatly at cupping sessions, since 2016, the year we started visiting Honduras to purchase coffee. 

 We hadn't had the opportunity to have his production, but we were finally able to make a deal in 2013.
Mr. Olvin, who also works for a local exporter,San Vicente, owns Cruz Grande farm, which is located in a mountainous area of Santa Barbara province.
What we got impressed about the environment there was that wind blows throughout the farm, since the it is in the steeper and higher area compared to other farms of Santa Barbara.
The powerful wind that blows heading towards Lake Yohoa, which sits right next to the farm, brings the temperature differences between night and day-time, which is good condition for coffee production.
In rare cases, coffee cherries are blown away, thaty is why he harvests his coffee in 7-8 times. Many producers havest their coffee in couple of times, and it seems Mr. Olvin divides the harvest timing more than the others due to the stronger wind. Catuai variety is mainly produced, and Pacas, which is said to be unique to Santa Barbara area, is also produced.
We found his coffee of Catuai variety is superior and its rich derid fruits and riped stonefruits flavor remind us his coffee cherries which have gwon under the severe environment with strong wind.
We recommend you try his coffee by enjoying the flavor change from when it is warm to when cold. 

 [About the exporter San Vicente] 

 The exporter is based in Pena Blanca, a small town in the northwestern part of Honduras.
Their main clients are the producers of Santa Barbara area and currently have businesses with over 200 farmers. The owner Mr. Ángel and several other members welcome and support the coffee importers and roasters of overseas countries so that the visitors get to see local coffee producers and farms, cup coffee, and start business with them.
Mr. Angel and Mr. Benjamin, who also own coffee plantations, have received rewards many times in international competitions such as Cup of Excellence.
They also support producers by being responsible for quality control; for example they measure moisture percentage and water activity value of green coffee, which is an indispensable process to maintain the quality.
They ship green coffee of which moisture value is managed between 10-11%, and water activity value between 0.40-0.60aw.
